Thermal processing of biomass, solid municipal waste and sludge from wastewater treatment plants in Europe produces significant amounts of ash, approximately 25 million tons per year. These ashes are currently used to a lesser extent and only in low-value applications. The AshCycle project aims to develop, apply, demonstrate and replicate different construction materials and developed solutions using waste materials - ash. With the aim of developing an industrial urban symbiosis, all the main actors from the value chain are included in the project in order to develop synergy, partnership and new business opportunities. The AshCycle project aims to respond to challenging socio-economic demands, facilitate new ash-based products entering the market and contribute to raising public awareness of the importance of using secondary resources.
