The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (EPEEF) Projects

PROBAJ

The goal of the PROBAJ project (Waste Repurposing – Women Veterans in Community Action) was to encourage the collection of old furniture, textiles, and consumer goods, and to foster the acquisition of skills for processing these items for reuse through innovative design.

Project activities included the organization of collection, renovation and reuse of old furniture, textiles and consumer goods with innovative designs in the Vukovar-Srijem County with the involvement of the rural population.

Through its activities, the PROBAJ project brought together multiple generations of residents in Vukovar-Srijem County, placing significant emphasis on veterans and retirees; through workshops, they learned about repurposing and reusing materials—practices they subsequently shared with the wider community after the project concluded. An added value of the project was its social significance alongside its environmental impact, as it encouraged less active population groups to acquire new skills and knowledge, thereby enabling them to make an active contribution to the community.

PERNATURA

The Pernatura project fostered and contributed to the reuse of old furniture, textiles, and consumer goods; this included product refurbishment to restore items to satisfactory working order, as well as repairs, collection drives, and the resale or reuse of worn-out products. Project activities revitalized the Lika region's traditions regarding the use of consumer goods, textiles, and furniture—such as the crafting of rag rugs, woven floor runners, and seat pads from old textiles—practices once common in all Lika households.

The goal of the project was to inform and make the public aware of the way to renovate and reuse old furniture, consumer goods and waste wool.
